ABI is an innovative treatment for tendon or ligament abnormalities. Tendinitis, tendinopathy or tendinosis are different terms used to describe tendon pathology. The most common reason for tendon pathology is chronic degeneration resulting in small tears. Typical presentation is pain lasting for more than 3 months persisting after conservative treatment with physiotherapy or occupational therapy. Referred commonly as epicondylitis in the elbow or bursitis in the hip / shoulder, tendon abnormalities are increasingly treated with ABI.

At the time of treatment your blood is taken from a vein draw and injected into an affected tendon or ligament injury. ABI uses the natural growth factors contained in platelets to stimulate the natural healing cascade and allow the body to repair itself. Repair occurs by a complex process that requires stem cells and inflammation that requires growth factors.
Conditions treated: All tendon related conditions and bursitis.
